One use of artificial turf that doesn't normally get a lot of discussion is indoor artificial turf. It can be used in mud porches and mud rooms, hallways, basements, game rooms, closed porches, as an indoor pool surround, and for many other indoor uses. Basements, high traffic entrances from the outdoors or any location where high traffic and soil would cause a normal indoor carpet to wear quickly or look badly is a good spot for the application of indoor artificial turf.

It wears much better than a normal carpet, it's much easier to clean in a dirty application like a mud room, and it adds a vibrant green color reminiscent of the great outdoors no matter where it might be placed. In reality, it's uses indoors are only limited by your imagination. Clearly, you don't want a natural lawn in your game room. But, it might be a good location to use artificial grass. It fits the casual mood, wears like iron, is easy to clean, and it much more inviting than bare concrete. It might be a good idea if the basement floor gets damp periodically. Of course if the basement floods, the artificial turf would fare better than a normal fiber carpet, but that isn't it's intended mission.

The durability and ease of cleaning that make artificial turf preferable for outdoor use also makes it a good choice for use indoors. A closed barbecue or picnic space would be another good place to apply the indoor artificial turf. It would be possible to install an indoor artificial turf putting green if a person lived in a region where winter is long and harsh. That way, they could continue to keep their hand in, at least at putting, during the inclement winter months.

The longevity, ease of cleaning, and non-allergenic qualities of artificial turf would be positive attributes in an indoor setting. The porous backing would allow any spills to be easily dealt with, and a simple sweeping or gentle vacuuming would suffice to keep it as clean as a whistle. It also offers no incentive to insects to nest or breed, so it wouldn't invite insects to move in. It might even discourage them.

If you apply your imagination and a little creativity, it's very likely that you'll come up with a use for indoor artificial turf that we haven't thought of or tried yet. There are many places in a home, especially a home with children, where the thoughtful application of indoor artificial turf might protect the flooring from the normal ravages of children with their toys, at least until they're old enough to understand that you shouldn't run your toys over the parquet flooring when the rubber on the toy tires has long since worn away. To improve your interior décor, and to protect your home from the depradations of growing children, indoor artificial turf may be the perfect answer.
